About Tess
Experienced, Accredited & Dedicated to Your Wellbeing
My Story
I qualified as a Relate Counsellor in 1992 and have been in continuous practice ever since. Over the past 36 years I have worked with hundreds of individuals, couples, and groups, helping people through some of life’s most complex and challenging moments.
In 2006 I was awarded BACP Accredited status — a recognition that demonstrates an advanced level of experience and a deep commitment to professional, ethical practice. I am also a qualified supervisor and tutor, which means I not only work directly with clients, but also support other counselling professionals in their development.

My Approach
I work from an integrative model, drawing primarily on psychodynamic thinking. This means that rather than applying a fixed formula, I create a personal way of working that is shaped entirely by your unique circumstances and needs.
Psychodynamic counselling explores how past events — sometimes from many years ago — may be influencing how you feel and behave today. Combined with other evidence-based techniques, this approach helps clients gain insight, build resilience, and move forward.
I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is at the heart of effective therapy. I work hard to create a safe, warm, and genuinely non-judgemental space where you feel heard and respected.
